Erik provides strategic direction, leadership, and management for Access Fund’s administrative and legislative priorities to protect public lands and climbing access across the country. He works to build and maintain Access Fund’s relationships with congressional offices, administrative agencies, conservation and recreation organizations and Native American tribes and communities. Erik also manages Access Fund’s national policy portfolio, oversees policy support to staff and our network of local climbing organizations, and partners with Access Fund leadership to activate and engage the climbing community in direct advocacy. He also serves on the Outdoor Alliance Joint Policy Shop and founded the Outdoor Alliance GIS Lab. A well-traveled climber for over three decades, Erik has a MS in Geology and a PhD in Natural Resource Studies and Environmental Psychology. His career has focused on public lands, the human dimension of natural resource management, recreation and Wilderness policy, and geographic information science
