Other Ways to Give

Access Fund's work to protect America's climbing is powered by climbers just like you. From gifts to stock to vehicle donations, read on to learn about all of the creative ways you can give back.

If you are interested in learning more giving opportunities, please contact philanthropy@accessfund.org.

Gifts of Stock

We are able to accept gifts of stock. Gifts of stocks can be especially advantageous if held longer than one year, since you avoid paying capital gains tax. You would also receive an income tax deduction for the current market value of the gift. You may deduct gifts totaling up to 30% of your adjusted gross income in any year, with a five-year carry-over for any excess. When we receive a stock donation, the name of donor is not always included. Please contact us if you have donated a closely held stock. This will allow us to acknowledge your donation in a timely manner.

If you hold stocks with a broker, you may transfer the securities electronically by instructing your broker to send the securities to our account at:

Charles Schwab
Account Name: Access Fund
Account Number: 6952-4349
DTC # for Schwab: 0164

In order to facilitate the transfer and acknowledgment of your stock gift, please notify us of your name, the name of the stock and the number of shares being donated before you transfer the stocks. Of course, we will respect the wishes of donors who prefer not to have their name publicly disclosed. Contact us at philanthropy@accessfund.org with any questions.

Memorial Giving and Gifts in Honor

Gifts in memory of or in honor of a friend or family member can be a great way to recognize their love for climbing and protection of our climbing areas. At your request, we can send a card in your name to those close to the individual being honored, informing them of the gift. You can make an honor or memorial gift here. If you have any questions, contact us at philanthropy@accessfund.org.

The Access Fund partners with Vehicles for Charity to process donated vehicles. You can call Vehicles for Charity at 866-628-CARS and they will answer any questions you may have, as well as make arrangements to pick up your donation. You can also arrange to donate your vehicle online. Almost any vehicle can be donated, including cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles and recreational vehicles. They do not have to be currently running. Your vehicle donation will be sold at an auction or to salvage depending on the condition, and 70% of the proceeds will go towards protecting America’s climbing. Contact us at philanthropy@accessfund.org with any questions.

Workplace Giving

There are various options available for workplace giving, including:

Federated Appeals (Government Employees)
Federal employees will find Access Fund listed as an option in the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). Please locate Access Fund in the Alpha index or the federation index under Environment, listed as “Climbing Access, Access Fund.” Our CFC number is 12047. In addition, we participate in numerous state, county, and municipal campaigns.

Workplace Giving (Non-Government Employees)
Employees in the private sector may offer a variety of payroll-deduction giving options. If you’d like to give to the Access Fund through your employer, please contact your human resources department to find out what options they offer. If your local United Way campaigns do not list Access Fund, you may write in the Access Fund on the pledge card, along with this address: PO Box 17010 Boulder, CO 80308.

Matching Gifts
Many companies sponsor matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees. If your company has a qualifying program, request a matching gift form from your employer or access the form through their website. Send your completed and signed form, along with your check or a copy of your online donation receipt to Access Fund: PO Box 17010 Boulder, CO 80308. For questions, contact us at philanthropy@accessfund.org.

Planned or Estate Giving

Some of us may never develop a climbing route, put up a first ascent, write a guidebook, or climb 5.15. But there are other ways to contribute to the story of climbing in America. Planning a deferred gift to Access Fund is an easy way to establish your own legacy of climbing access, and give back to the climbing experience. Planned giving is not just for the wealthy or those with expertise in financial planning. Rather, it can be a very simple way to leave behind a gift of any value to support the work and mission of Access Fund. Learn more here. For additional details, contact us at philanthropy@accessfund.org.
