On April 17th, 2025, President Trump ordered the U.S. Forest Service to complete the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), triggering the transfer of Oak Flat to Resolution Copper—a foreign-owned mining company. This action would result in the largest loss of climbing access in U.S. history. Resolution Copper plans to develop one of the largest copper mines in the world, causing irreversible harm to the sacred land of the San Carlos Apache Tribe.

Access Fund has been working to protect Oak Flat for two decades. After a 20-year fight, we remain committed to defending this irreplaceable landscape and are actively considering the best course of action. Stay tuned for updates—and for how you can help save this sacred place.
